Arnolds Park Man Continues To Recuperate From Motorcycle Crash
(Arnolds Park)-- An Arnolds Park man continues to recuperate from injuries sustained in a September 23rd motorcycle crash.
The Iowa State Patrol, which has just recently released information into the incident, says 27-year-old Jake Huse was driving a motorcycle southbound on Highway 71 near the entrance to the Arnolds Park Amusement Park where the single southbound lane splits into two lanes. Troopers say Huse had passed one vehicle and was overtaking another when he lost control. The motorcycle came to rest on its side; Huse struck his head on the ground as he landed. Troopers say it appeared the driver of the vehicle being overtaken may have been changing lanes to the left or swerving over the lane line prior to the motorcycle losing control.
Huse sustained incapacitating injuries. He was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare and was transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.
$2,000 in damage was estimated to the motorcycle.
The accident report from the State Patrol states that alcohol was a contributing factor, but it also indicates that a drunk driving charge had NOT been filed. Troopers say the case still remains under investigation, however.
